The 4 Horsemen: Fitness

April 16, 20253 min read

In Part 1, we introduced the 4 Horsemen of weight loss: Nutrition, Fitness, Sleep, and Stress Management. We also showed you how to use the "Horsemen Rating System" to pinpoint your biggest challenge. (If you missed it, catch up on Part 1 here)

If you've rated yourself low in the Fitness category, this post is for you! It's time to fire up your engine and get moving.

I know, I know. "Fitness" can sound intimidating. You might be picturing grueling workouts and endless hours at the gym. But it doesn't have to be that way! The key is finding activities you enjoy and building a sustainable routine.

Let's revisit Lisa from our previous story. Remember how she was struggling with sleep and stress? Well, after we addressed those, we realized her fitness routine needed a little tweaking too. She was doing the same cardio routine over and over, and it was getting boring.

Action Steps to Rev Up Your Fitness

Here are some actionable steps to help you make fitness a fun and effective part of your life:

  1. Find Your Fit:

    • What activities do you enjoy? Dancing? Walking in nature? Swimming? Group fitness classes? Experiment and find things that make you feel good.

    • Don't be afraid to try new things! You might discover a hidden passion.

  2. Make it Convenient:

    • The best workout is the one you'll actually do. Choose activities that fit your schedule and lifestyle.

    • If you're short on time, break up your workouts into shorter bursts throughout the day.

  3. Start Small, Build Up:

    • Don't try to go from couch potato to marathon runner overnight! Start with 10-15 minutes of activity a few days a week and gradually increase the duration and intensity as you get fitter.

    • Celebrate your progress! Every step you take is a victory.

  4. Incorporate Strength Training:

    • Strength training is a game-changer for weight loss and overall health. It builds muscle, which boosts your metabolism and helps you feel strong and confident.

    • Start with bodyweight exercises or light weights and gradually increase the challenge as you get stronger.

  5. Make it Social:

    • Find a workout buddy! Exercising with a friend can provide motivation, accountability, and make it more fun.

    • Join a group fitness class to meet new people and experience the energy of a group workout.

Back to Lisa's Journey

For Lisa, we added variety to her routine. She tried a Zumba class and discovered she loved dancing! We also incorporated strength training, which helped her feel stronger and more confident.

The key takeaway? We found activities she enjoyed and could fit into her busy schedule.
