How Yoda Taught Me to Ditch the "Trying" and Embrace the "Doing"

"Do or Do Not. There is No Try."

November 20, 20242 min read

Wise words have a way of sticking with you, don't they? One quote that's become a guiding principle in my life comes from the wisest Jedi Master of them all: Yoda.

"Do or do not. There is no try."

Simple, yet profound.

I used to be a chronic "try-er." I'd "try" to get in shape, "try" to eat healthier, "try" to build a successful business. But "trying" was just a sneaky way to avoid fully committing. It was a built-in excuse for half-hearted efforts and lackluster results.

Then, Yoda's wisdom hit me like a Force lightning bolt. ⚡️ He was right. There IS no try. There's only doing or not doing.

From "Trying" to "Doing"

That realization sparked a powerful shift in my mindset. I stopped "trying" and started doing. I set clear goals, created action plans, and showed up consistently, even when I didn't feel like it. I stopped second-guessing myself and embraced the power of taking action.

The results? Life-changing.

I built a thriving gym – Dedicated Health – from the ground up. I transformed my own health and fitness. I created a life filled with purpose and passion.

And it all started with that simple shift from "trying" to "doing."

The Power of Commitment

When you fully commit to something, you unleash a force within you that can move mountains. You tap into a wellspring of determination, focus, and resilience that you never knew you had.

"Trying" keeps you stuck in a wishy-washy limbo. "Doing" propels you forward.

Embrace the "Do"

Think about something you've been "trying" to do. Maybe it's starting a new workout routine, launching a side hustle, or learning a new skill.

Now, ask yourself: "Am I truly committed to this, or am I just 'trying'?"

If you're ready to embrace the "do," here's what helped me:

  • Set clear, specific goals. What exactly do you want to achieve?

  • Break down your goals into smaller, manageable steps.

  • Create a plan and schedule time for action.

  • Hold yourself accountable. Track your progress and celebrate your wins.

  • Don't be afraid to fail. Failure is just feedback. Learn from it and keep moving forward.

Join the "Do" Revolution

I challenge you to ditch the "trying" and step into the power of "doing." It's where the real magic happens. ✨

What will YOU "do" today? Share your intentions in the comments!
